The Wharton Group Event Code of Conduct Policy
GUIDING VALUES FOR THE DESIGN & MANAGEMENT OF OUR EVENTS
At The Wharton Group Inc., we believe that advancing our work, both individually and collectively, requires valuing and celebrating diverse opinions, perspectives, and experiences. We understand that how we share space and interact during events is just as important as achieving our individual goals. All of our events are intentionally designed around the following core values:
- Inclusivity: We believe in the importance of diversity throughout our work, fostering an environment that promotes non-discrimination, free expression, participation, and equality.
- Collaboration: We are deeply committed to fostering solidarity, connection, cooperation, and a sense of community within our industry.
- Integrity: We are dedicated to accountability, transparency, honesty, and establishing fair and just processes for addressing and learning from differences.
- Authentic Communication: We believe in the necessity of thoughtful, respectful, constructive, and self-aware communication with others.
- Openness: We are committed to being curious, innovative, adventurous, and reflective, both individually and collectively.
- Positivity: We value fun, play, humor, appreciation, celebration, and hope as essential elements in sustaining both individual and collective work.
PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE – COLLECTIVE ACCOUNTABILITY
While The Wharton Group Inc. works hard to create a welcoming, diverse, and accessible space, we ask all participants to share the responsibility of ensuring an atmosphere of mutual respect and solidarity by:
Interacting and engaging peacefully: Differences of opinion will naturally occur; view these differences as opportunities to expand your understanding and perspectives.
Using inclusive language: Respect how people wish to be referred to, including gender identity and expression (such as pronouns), and practice inclusive language whenever possible.
Respecting and recognizing the diversity of bodies and gender expressions: Help create a space that acknowledges and validates the different lived experiences of participants.
Building a respectful space: Be mindful of others’ physical and emotional boundaries. Participants asked to stop harassing, discriminatory, or disruptive behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Challenging oppressive behavior nonviolently: This includes actions related to harassment, verbal or physical violence, violation of consent, and any behavior that perpetuates classism, ageism, ableism, racism, misogyny, heterosexism, transphobia, and other forms of oppression.
If you witness behavior that is inappropriate or contrary to this code of conduct, please support those affected and remind them that there is a process they can follow.
REPORTING HARASSMENT & DISCRIMINATION
While we encourage free expression, The Wharton Group Inc. does not tolerate any form of harassment or discrimination as defined by legal statutes in Canada and other jurisdictions where our events are held, whether online or in person. This includes harassment based on gender; gender identity and expression; race; ethnicity; sexual orientation; physical characteristics; ability; religion; and age.
Complaints can be reported confidentially through the following channels:
- Approach a The Wharton Group Inc. staff member on-site. Staff members are easily identifiable by their branded t-shirts.
- Contact our designated The Wharton Group Inc. Code of Conduct representative at steven@thewhartongroup.ca o
r in person if present at the event. - Contact local law enforcement directly.
The Wharton Group Inc. will proactively address complaints and take necessary actions, which may include:
- Issuing warnings
- Expulsion from the event
- Banning from future events
Malicious complaints will not be tolerated, and individuals making such complaints will be subject to the same procedures outlined above.
SCOPE OF POLICY
This code of conduct applies to all participants, as well as all event-related staff (e.g., hotel staff, AV technicians, support staff, etc.). It extends to all event-related activities, including formal sessions, side events, social gatherings, parties, and informal meetups.
All participants and event-related staff are expected to understand and abide by this code of conduct. Violations may result in sanctions or termination of participation as outlined above.

En The Wharton Group Inc., creemos que para avanzar en nuestro trabajo, tanto individual como colectivamente, es esencial valorar y celebrar diversas opiniones, perspectivas y experiencias. Entendemos que la manera en la que compartimos el espacio e interactuamos durante los eventos es tan importante como lograr nuestros objetivos individuales. Todos nuestros eventos se diseñan intencionalmente alrededor de los siguientes valores fundamentales:

PONIENDO EN PRÁCTICA – RESPONSABILIDAD COLECTIVA
Aunque The Wharton Group Inc. se esfuerza en crear un espacio acogedor, diverso y accesible, solicitamos a todos los participantes que compartan la responsabilidad de garantizar una atmósfera de respeto mutuo y solidaridad mediante:
Interactuar y participar pacíficamente: Las diferencias de opinión son naturales; considera estas diferencias como oportunidades para ampliar tu comprensión y perspectiva del mundo.
Usar lenguaje inclusivo: Respeta cómo las personas prefieren ser referidas, incluyendo su identidad y expresión de género (como los pronombres), y practica el lenguaje inclusivo siempre que sea posible.
Respetar y reconocer la diversidad de cuerpos y expresiones de género: Ayuda a crear un espacio que reconozca y valide las diversas experiencias de vida de los participantes.
Construir un espacio respetuoso: Sé consciente de los límites físicos y emocionales de los demás. Los participantes que sean solicitados a detener comportamientos de acoso, discriminatorios o disruptivos deben hacerlo de inmediato.
Desafiar el comportamiento opresivo de manera no violenta: Esto incluye acciones relacionadas con el acoso, la violencia verbal o física, la violación del consentimiento y cualquier comportamiento que perpetúe el clasismo, el edadismo, el capacitismo, el racismo, la misoginia, el heterosexismo, la transfobia y otras formas de opresión.
Si presencias un comportamiento que consideras inapropiado o contrario a este código de conducta, por favor apoya a los afectados y recuérdales que hay un proceso disponible para ellos.
INFORMAR SOBRE ACOSO Y DISCRIMINACIÓN
Si bien promovemos y defendemos el derecho a la libre expresión, en The Wharton Group Inc. no toleramos ninguna forma de acoso o discriminación, tal como lo definen las leyes de Canadá y otras jurisdicciones donde se llevan a cabo nuestros eventos, ya sean en línea o presenciales. Esto incluye el acoso relacionado con género, identidad y expresión de género, raza, etnia, orientación sexual, características físicas, habilidades, religión y edad.
Las quejas se pueden reportar de manera confidencial a través de los siguientes canales:
